About Karin Westerfeld
Karin WESTERFELD / Karin FARRJONES on SL

Karin WESTERFELD, parisian, photographer – plastician, has got a German and Indian origins (Parsi from Bombay by her father’s grandma) and Breton by her mother, Karin herself was born in France. Since then, Karin Westerfeld did not stop to run after skies, stones and humans… though the 5 continents.
Demanding artist of the detail, she manage her images like a movie director. To get the best shade and light, she uses in order to restore an impression of mixed photograph/painting and translate its imaginary.
The last few years, she has tried out the video technics, inspired by a sound rhythm : she transposes there, her emotion, her colours… Her vision of the World with her own touch of mythological references and new beings, born from her perception.
The series of ”MEDUSES” Jelly fish represent the outcome of a passionate and paradoxical work which transposes the traditional picture into digital… “to give an open field to my creativity and imagination”.
From each and everyone of us emanate invisible lights and spirituels. It is those lighting episodes that I am trying to catch and to express which I write in odd universe of colours, substances and shapes…”
Sculptress of chromatic works, it then transforms the matters to lead to his metamorphoses, mirror effect which transcend the hidden face of the beings in chimerical creatures.

“Karin Westerfeld and numerical images: a passionate and paradoxical relation… this pictorial photographer of multiple talents finds it hard to slow her fascination for new technologies. She now gives free rein to her experiments in digital video and chromatics…
From the shock of colour saturated with exotic strange forms to the frontier of the psychedelic paroxysms of the seventies, “Pure delirium” at the crossroads of Pop Art and Op Art: “I like to mix techniques, to move back and forth between black and white photography and its digital form, blending my vision… without ever tiring of this third eye.”
